...featuring the Magic of Mangosteen
Disintegrated Back Disc/ Miniature
Dachshund
When asked to write about the effects of aging and the danger of some of the most
important folks in our lives, (our little dogs), I almost immediately got tears in my eyes.
My best little four legged friend is "Ms. Scarlet," our long haired, miniature
dachshund. We've had her since she was a tiny, little puppy. She loves to sit on my lap.
As many of you may know, this breed of dog is very prone to back issues because their
little legs are just too short to support their long bodies. We, our family, have always watched that Ms.
Scarlet didn’t jump off of furniture, or climb stairs, because of the inclination to need a back
injury.
Ms. Scarlet is now 13 years old and last year, just overnight, she woke up one morning
and could not stand or walk, and if she tried, the pain would cause her to urinate on the spot. She couldn't
even move her rear legs, and curled them up under her. I immediately made her an appointment with her Vet and
was told that she had a disintegrated disc, and that surgery would be the ONLY solution and that at her age
it would be a real risk.
Ed and I were faced with a decision that most pet owners are faced with at one time or
another. It was at this point that Ed said, "Before we make any difficult decisions, let’s see if mangosteen
will work for her."
It was at that point that I started giving Scarlet a dropper of mangosteen twice a
day. It didn’t take but a month, and Scarlet was running around the house with the rest of the dogs and she
still is.
Our little girl, "Ms. Scarlet," is now almost blind and can’t hear very well, but
she's as frisky as a puppy. She hops around in and out of the house, and scampers to the back door to run and
play outside with our 2 other miniature dachshund puppies (they’re one year old). She is much slower than the
puppies, but she is 13 and still alive and well. God has given us more years with Ms. Scarlett that we didn't
think we would have and we are so grateful for that.
I know that God played a big part in this because we pray for all our pets along with
all of our family and friends, but I also KNOW in my heart, that if we had not given Ms. Scarlet her
mangosteen every day, she would not be here with us today. By the way, she sends her love and said to tell
you that she is still taking her mangosteen faithfully.

Cataracts and arthritis/ Miniature
Schnauzer
Isaac was a member of our family for nearly two years. He was between 13 and 14 when we brought him home. We loved him and learned a lot from him while he was with us.
Life with Isaac began one early August evening as my husband and I were driving home
at dusk. We drove past our community grocery store and I noticed
something out of the corner of my eye that didn’t look quite right. My antennae went up. A small
dog sat against the laurel hedge which surrounded the store parking lot. He was all alone.
I turned into the parking lot and parked in front of the dog. He didn’t move. I quickly got
out of the car and walked to the dog, offering him my hand for a sniff. He just sat staring as though he didn’t even see me. I remembered we had some cheese in the back seat from that evening’s dinner
at a friend’s home and grabbed it and bit off a piece for him.
He didn’t react when I held it in front of his nose. I had never
seen such a sad look on a dog’s face, ever. He looked like he
just wanted to die.
At that moment, a man who looked very much like Santa Clause (no kidding!) dressed in
regular clothing, joined me and said “I think this little dog needs a home” and then he walked
away. I felt it was possible the dog wouldn’t even last through
the night. My husband was still in the car and I told him we
needed to take the dog home if only to give him a nice place to die.
When we got home the dog and I went straight to the tub because I knew he had
fleas. He was covered with dirt and bark and the only thing he
didn’t have much of was hair. I held him up as I washed him
because he could not stand. I dried him and wrapped him in warm
towels and made him a bed by ours. We decided he looked like an
Isaac so that’s the name we gave him.
Right away with his first meal we decided Isaac
needed mangosteen in his diet. We gave him some in his breakfast
and dinner every day. Within the first week he was walking,
improved but still stiff and slow.
He had an appt with the groomer and when I went to pick him up she told me how well
he’d done. She also told me she’d never seen so many fleas on a
dog When he saw it was me who had come to get him he wagged his
tail. I was thrilled, that was the first time he’d done that for
me! He didn’t have much hair, but he looked like he felt like a
million bucks!
Our next trip was to the vet. That’s
where we learned Isaac’s approximate age. The vet also confirmed
Isaac had cataracts in both eyes and he was deaf. This
information prompted us to learn a kind of sign language in order to communicate with Isaac. This was one of the many useful things he taught us.
For the first few weeks Isaac would wake up early in the morning screaming and unable
to move his hind legs. We learned that sometimes it took him a
few hours before he could move around so we pulled him around on his bed from room to room so he could be
with us. When he was up and around we’d go outside with him so
he could relieve himself. If it was dark and we weren’t mindful
of where he was headed, he would bump into one of our parked cars. It didn’t seem to matter where we parked the cars. After a month, we were amazed to note these collisions stopped. What had changed for him that could help with his eye sight? The only answer we could think of was the mangosteen. We knew a man who had worn glasses for years and after adding mangosteen to
his diet his eye sight improved to the point where he no longer needed glasses.
Isaac kept improving until soon he was running and playing with our elderly
cat. What a pair they made, a couple of old gents romping around
having a great time together!
Just one week shy of his two year anniversary of our meeting, Isaac suffered a stroke
and passed away. What a great extended life he had. To watch a dog change from being miserable to being happy and full of life
is a great gift we will always remember. We have fond memories
of him and are grateful we knew about the mangosteen that made such a wonderful difference in his
life.

Seizures and other problems
/Pomeranian
I have a small Pomeranian who started having seizures about 9 months ago, at least 2
times a day, the medication the Vet prescribed her (Phenobarbital) was making her dizzy among other side
effects, we started her on mangosteen Sept. 2006. She reacted
immediately, (we took her out of the medication the same day we started her with the mangosteen) with lots of
energy and has not had a seizure since then. We also noticed she
was not limping anymore (she had developed arthritis) and at the same time we noticed a rash she’d had on her
skin was gone. Pretty soon my husband, who gives her mangosteen
every morning, noticed her hair was growing thick and shiny. We
are so happy with all the benefits our dog is receiving from the mangosteen.
Don't be afraid to start your dog on mangosteen, you will be surprised to see how fast
she/he recuperates, improves and feels better.

Allergies /Bulldog
We have an English Bulldog. She gets moisture in the folds around her nose which
I have to put medication on to keep it clean and dry. She also has allergies but since starting her on
mangosteen a month ago these problem areas are requiring less medication.
She loves it. I say this because when we tell her it’s “mangosteen time” she
comes from under my desk and waits while we get it ready for her. There have been several times when my
husband has gone to the fridge to drink some himself and she will get off her chair and sit at his feet as
though to say “I want some.”
She is 7 years old and weighs 65 lbs. The dosage we started giving her was two
eye droppers full for four to five days. We increased it to one
capful per day for the next four to five days. We upped it to
two capfuls per day and this is the dosage that works best for her. We may decrease it one of these days, but for now two capfuls is working
great!

Bee sting and irritation /Outside
dog
My dog spends most of his time
outside. He likes to get into things and likes to bite bees and
wasps out of the air! I don’t seem to be able to talk him out of
this so every once in a while he gets stung. After my family and
I were introduced to mangosteen and were seeing our own good results, I decided to give some to our
dog. I put it right on the spot that was inflamed from the bee
sting and within a day there was not even a mark left!
He and I run together and we often take trails
through some woods. Last week after we returned home I noticed he was chewing and licking his paw. Within a couple of hours he had chewed off some hair and his skin by his pad
was red and irritated. I added mangosteen to his meal that evening
and also put some directly on the inflamed spot on his paw. Later
that night we were watching TV together and I noticed he was no longer worrying his paw.
The mangosteen helped and now I add it to his meals every day. I plan to continue because I’ve read other accounts of the good things it
does for dogs.

Runny stools /
Chihuahua
My dog is only 8 lbs. so it was a trial/error to find the right dose for her. I'm down
to roughly 1 Tbsp. a day to avoid any runny stools. She liked the mangosteen at first but then pooh-poohed
it! Now I mix a little pure maple syrup with it and she's a happy Chihuahua!
The mangosteen helped heal a major infection for which the vet did not think she'd
respond without surgery. She also had intestinal ailments on two other occasions and the mangosteen settled
her down within hours. I would have taken her in for treatment but tried the mangosteen first. She was fine
the next morning.
Now that she's five years old, I should be more consistent in giving it to her to
prevent known concerns with aging. Go Mangosteen!

Mange and Healing
/Puppy
I have used mangosteen on my dog who contracted mange as a puppy. I put it on the all spots except on a small one that was not as "sick"
looking as the others. Also, I gave her mangosteen twice a day with her meals.
All the bad spots were healed and she had started to re-grow hair in two days. The other spot got worse...until I
treated it too! Now she is a year old and doing really
well.
Recently, I had her spayed and put mangosteen on the incision twice a day. She will drink small amounts (1-2 oz) without much coaxing. The swelling
went down and her incision has healed nicely in just one week.

Allergies /Australian
Shepherd
My sister has an Australian Shepherd. The dog is allergic to dog food so she is on a
good balanced diet of cooked human-type food. She gets ‘hot spots’ on her skin once in a while and the vet
can’t figure out why. She takes pills for this and they sometimes work for a while.
We went walking on a Monday and the dog had a new hot spot that had erupted the
previous Sunday. Her leg was red and she had been licking the spot. My sister decided to give her 1/2
teaspoon of mangosteen twice a day.
I saw the dog again on Wednesday and the spot had cleared up completely. The dog
continues to take that dose of mangosteen and no other spots have erupted.
I give my working dogs each 5cc (1 tsp) twice a day. The guardian dogs weigh twice as
much (100lbs) and I give them 10cc. At their feeding I just put it on their food.
My dogs are all healthy but they work all day every day in every kind of weather. I
want to be sure that they get every benefit to their health that they can. I’m particularly interested in
their joint health. Their legs take a beating herding sheep.

These stories are for educational purposes and do not endorse or promote any
commercial product and/or company. They are merely a resource for sharing information about mangosteen fruit
and Xanthones.
Mangosteen is not a cure or a drug... it's a fruit that has been used for medicinal
purposes for centuries. Nothing in this message is meant to
guarantee or imply that you or your dog will receive benefits from its consumption. We encourage you to perform your own due diligence by reading the many
scientific papers about the medicinal properties of the mangosteen fruit (botanical name “Garcinia
mangostana”). Simply use the site www.pubmed.org and type in
the word mangosteen. There is no shortage of peer review
studies.
Keep in mind... almost
all tests and studies are done with mangosteen in a petri dish not in a dog or a human. But it doesn't take a
rocket scientist to connect the dots from those studies to the results highlighted above and say, "You know,
there's something to this mangosteen."
There is no known
toxicity level for the intake of mangosteen. In humans, it is safe for pregnant women and nursing mothers,
infants, and the elderly alike. That goes a long way to suggest its level of safeness for canines. The
results are good across the animal (pets) kingdom -- horses, cats, birds, you name it... people are reporting
remarkable stories.
